A Heaping Dose of HUGE News

I debated whether or not to publish this post last week because there was actually big news brewing at the time. I wrote the post earlier in that week before anything had surfaced and am actually quite thankful I was able to get those raw thoughts down. This story is such an important part of who we are and the lens we view life through. So I’m glad you now know.

If you have read my Thoughts on Being a Mother, you might have already gathered that our big news is that my husband got a full-time, permanent job! I urge you to read it if you haven’t. It really puts context to just how big this news is to our family. This isn’t just any job, either. It’s the most perfect job we could have ever imagined. But only because God designed it just for our family. Apart from his grace, none of this makes any sense.

Come October, my husband will be the sole provider for his family, I will be a stay-at-home mama, we will have a huge portion of our student debt paid off from an unexpected and hefty signing bonus, our second car will be sold and loan paid off since Arthur can bus to work long-term, our weekends will be family time for the first time, and we will finally be able to start planting our roots physically (eventually buying a home) and emotionally (fully investing in our church and community) now that we know where we will need to be for the foreseeable future. Really though, all of this is just the tip of how big of a blessing this is to us. The fact that the Lord has heard our prayers and seen us fit for His abundant grace is really what blows our minds.

What awes me the most is the Lord's grace on my husband. He is so excited to work hard and figure out how God's mission will play out through him in this job. Over the past few months of his multi-year job search, Arthur has said countless times that he doesn't care what his career is anymore. He just desperately wanted the Lord to give him something to invest himself into that would bring glory to His name and allow him to provide for our family. It still surprises me everyday that he doesn't complain about having to work, he is such a hard-working and joy-filled servant.

As for me, this shift in my husband's career directly defines a new career for me as a stay-at-home mom. I am more than a little nervous about what this will be like, but am confident in the call the Lord has placed on my heart to serve my family. I really look forward to writing about my journey into motherhood along the way.

This is all I really have to share for now. Those of you who have been rooting and praying for us for so long, thank you. The outpouring of excitement has been such a blessing to our souls. It's overwhelming to think about how this is just the beginning of our story and a lifetime of joyful and challenging times that are sure to come.

  1. Congrats to your sweet little fam! God does amazing things. I look forward to hearing what this job is and chatting with you about it. I also look forward to getting together as stay at home mamas. Now, I URGE you to consider PEPS as a "social activity" after your little babe is born. It is nothing short of amazing and the friends I made through it are some of the best I have ever had-four years later! Xoxoxo
